How to clear cache in popular browsers

Clearing the Cache in Chrome

Do one of the following:

  • From the “Menu

     button in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window, choose “More Tools” > “Clear browsing data“.

  • Press “CTRL” + “Shift” + “Delete” keys in Windows or Linux, or “Command” + “Shift” + “Delete” keys on MacOS.

  • Select “Menu” > “Settings” > "Privacy & Security" > “Clear browsing data“.

Clear the cache

  1. Click the menu button

  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.

  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….

  1. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.

  2. Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

, click History and click Clear Recent History…. Next to Time range to clear, choose Everything from the drop-down menu, select Cache in the items list, make sure other items you want to keep are not selected and then click the Clear Now button. See this article for details.

Automatically clear the cache

You can set Firefox to automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes:

  1. Click the menu button

    and select Options.

  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel and go to the History section.

  3. In the drop-down menu next to Firefox will, choose Use custom settings for history.

  4. Select the check box for Clear history when Firefox closes.

5. Beside Clear history when Firefox closes, click the Settings… button. The Settings for Clearing History window will open.

6. In the Settings for Clearing History window, put a check mark next to Cache.

  1. Click OK to close the Settings for Clearing History window.

  2. Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

Clearing the Cache in Internet Explorer

1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history....

NOTE: You can also access this menu by holding Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

2. Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click Delete.

3. You will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it has successfully cleared your cache and cookies.

Note: The F12 developer tools in Internet Explorer 11 do not include a cache menu. This process will only work for IE10 or lower.

 

1. Close out of Internet Options. Click on Tools and select Developer Tools.

2. In the Developer Tools window, click on Cache and select Clear Browser Cache...

3. Click Yes to confirm the clearing of the browser cache.
